With approximately 350 million smart homes(opens in new tab) worldwide, having the best smart speakers(opens in new tab) or the best smart security cameras(opens in new tab) installed in your home can make your daily life simpler, safer, and more connected. There are many advantages to having a smart home(opens in new tab), ranging from increased security for the interior and exterior of the home to greater control over the heating and lighting.
As a smart home novice, I have occasionally experimented with smart home devices but have never fully integrated them into my daily life. My first smart home device was the Google Nest Mini, which I relished using due to its small size, straightforward installation, and simple voice commands. However, I only used it to play music and peruse recipes, so when I did a major clean-up and put it away, I didn’t really miss it.
After seeing the numerous product releases from Apple, Google, and Amazon this year, I am now significantly more interested in incorporating smart home devices into my residence. As I will soon be moving, it seems like the ideal time to begin constructing my smart home…And these three devices will help me accomplish my goal.
SMART DISPLAY
A smart display is the first smart home product I’m adding to my residence. A smart display is arguably one of the most essential household devices. Smart displays, such as the Amazon Echo Show 10(opens in a new browser), have a number of features and capabilities that make household management and organization much simpler and more streamlined.

While smart displays are frequently compared to the finest smart speakers(opens in a new tab), they are significantly more advanced and feature a touchscreen for enhanced functionality and adaptability.
In addition to playing music, displaying recipes, setting timers, streaming movies, and making video calls, smart displays can also serve as a central center for the rest of your smart home.
Having a smart display allows you to control your other smart devices, such as cameras, lighting, thermostats, plugs, and other compatible devices, from a central location. For instance, the Google Nest Hub Max(opens in a new tab) enables simple customization and control of all Google Assistant-compatible devices.
SMART DOORBELL
As I am moving from a flat to a house with a ‘proper’ front entrance, the second smart home product I will purchase is a video doorbell. The finest video doorbells can record footage from outside your home and allow you to see who is at your door while you’re away.

With two-way audio, I can easily use my new video doorbell to communicate with delivery personnel about where to leave my package or when to reschedule deliveries if I must sign for something.
As video doorbells such as the Ezviz DB2 Battery Video Doorbell Kit(opens in a new tab) include a camera to record the exterior of the home, I can use it to monitor the premises and see who’s visiting – it’s almost a two-in-one device.
And given that I’ve lived in an apartment without a doorbell for years, I can’t deny that I’m remarkably excited to finally have one!
SMART BULBS
A smart bulb is the third and final smart home product I’m installing in my new residence. I’ve been using a wake up light(opens in new tab) for the past few months to wind down in the evening and rise up naturally in the morning.

I’ve discovered how much I appreciate setting the mood with the brightness and color of the light… therefore, why not do so with all the lighting in my home?
The finest smart bulbs(opens in new tab) add ambiance to your home, making them ideal for movie nights, dinner parties, and the Christmas season. Connected to the accompanying app, such as the Philips Hue app for the finest Philips Hue lights I can control the lighting in my home with my phone or voice commands. Smart lamps can also help save money on energy and electricity costs, as they consume less energy and last longer than conventional bulbs.
