The chat platform Discord has implemented an in-app synthesizer for use in voice channels.
Disocrd announced in a blog post, “We’re introducing Soundboard: a new method to react in Voice channels with sounds curated by your community.”
“Soundboard can only be used or managed on desktop at launch. “However, mobile users can still hear any noises you play, keeping them informed when a HONKHONK occurs,” the statement continued.
The feature will be implemented in the future weeks.
Soundboard is a voice channel feature that enables you to play a brief audio clip that all participants in the same voice channel can hear. According to the company, Soundboard allows you to express yourself and react to the voice channel’s conversation or Go Live broadcast in a manner similar to Reactions and Super Reactions.
To use Soundboard, users will need to navigate to any Voice channel on their server, where they will find an album-shaped icon next to Activities.
This button will display the Soundboard panel when clicked.
According to the company, users can limit who can use soundboards on their server and reduce the volume to zero in the preferences if they do not wish to hear noises from Discord soundboards.
